“We always come to work feeling positive and energetic and start our day talking to our teams about their Restaurants performance, whether that be their team, net promoter score, cost control or the opportunities to increase revenue. It’s all about the drive to motivate, inspire and lead each team to deliver operational excellence; ensuring all of our 50 million guests we serve each year love the time they choose to spend with us. We are passionate about making sure our team sheets are healthy and developing talent for future succession in Whitbread Restaurants is just second nature, through using all the tools available, creating a coaching environment, regular team reviews and using team engagement as a key driver of success. Every region has a business plan which is closely aligned to the wider business.
We have a strong determination to succeed and be the best with constant focus on opportunities to make our Restaurants an even better place to be from sharing best practice in our Regional Meetings such as really engaging team notice boards - to visiting our Restaurants and ensuring the food we serve is great and our guests have an experience they will never forget. We delight in recognising and rewarding our teams for their achievements whether that be a small gesture such as awarding one of our much sought after pin badges or a nomination for an award at our annual conference. We genuinely feel proud to be able to make our teams feel special. Working closely with our teams and the wider business at our Central Support Centre we are able to understand and analyse our Regional performance and focus our attention on the areas that need it with support from experts - whether from our finance, marketing or HR team - we all work towards the same goal.”
Development doesn’t have to slow down once you’re an Area Manager. We have opportunities for self development through our great i-workshops which are our internal leadership development programmes. You are the first person to experience any training we roll out to your wider teams for your own personal development, to enable you to be an advocate for the training and so you can talk to your teams about the training they will received.
High profile business secondments are a great opportunity for your work to be recognised by the wider business, allowing you to get exposure to all different facets of the businesses operations and will put you in the best place possible for progressing your career further. We always look to our high flying Regional Managers to fulfil these secondments first.
